Moonlight and Magnolias
Producer - Wayne Dunn Director - Kurt Percy Sept. 3-5 & 10-12 - live performances! 1939 Hollywood is abuzz. Legendary producer David O. Selznick has shut down production of his new epic, Gone with the Wind, a film adaptation of Margaret Mitchell’s novel. The screenplay, you see, just doesn’t work. So what’s an all-powerful movie mogul to do? While fending off the film’s stars, gossip columnists, and his own father-in-law, Selznick sends a car for famed screenwriter Ben Hecht and pulls formidable director Victor Fleming from the set of The Wizard of Oz. Summoning both to his office, he locks the doors, closes the shades, and on a diet of bananas and peanuts, the three men labor over five days to fashion a screenplay that will become the blueprint for one of the most successful and beloved films of all time.

All Together Now
Producer - Director - Wayne Dunn Music Director - Jay Mills Nov. 12-13 - live performances! The COVID pandemic struck most forms of performing arts since 2019. Going out to the shows became a fond memory of the past. Perhaps nowhere was the anxiety over continued existence more sharply felt than in local performing arts such as theatre. We live on donations and ticket sales.
Many of us held our breath, hoping that something would change, and we would be back on stage where we love to be. But audiences were not ready to be comfortable in a crowd until recently. Music Theatre International, agent for the majority of musicals, felt the loss of royalties as much if not more than the individual theatre companies. So they did the unexpected: MTI is giving free royalties to many of their shows’ songs performed over the weekend of November 12-14. So Lebanon Theatre opted to be one of the 1600 schools and community theatre groups in 36 countries to be part of 3800 performances of All Together Now! The show not only has 15 slots for numbers from the best of the old and new Broadway Songs, but it also features a couple videos reflecting on the place for arts in our lives from local stars to Broadway veterans. Don’t miss this once in a lifetime international celebration of arts in humanity! |
